WHO WE ARE
Welcome to Lazy SB Cattle Here at the Ranch we believe its important to know where your food comes from and how its raised. From the ranch to your table we strive to provide some of the best beef you've ever tasted.
WHAT WE DO
We raise quality Black Angus beef that are available farm to table direct to the customer in 2 different ways. The first way is bulk beef by purchasing 1/4, 1/2 or whole beef on the rail with custom processing. The 2nd is from our Health Department licensed Meat Depot located in King Hill, Idaho where we stock USDA processed beef for retail sales. It is our mission to provide our family, friends and customers with exceptionally healthy and mouth watering beef.
Our Practices
We run a cow/calf operation and finish the calves out for Quality Local Beef. Our cattle free range on BLM and Forest service lands. Once calves are weaned they are either put on grass pasture or in the feed lot and fed hay. Once the calves are ready to start the final fattening process for butcher they are put on a hay and corn ration for a minimum of 90 days. We truly believe the corn finishing enhances the beautiful marbling and delicious taste of the beef.
We also purchase bulls based on several specific traits. One of them is specific to the medium framed carcass we like on our cattle. In our experience, medium framed cattle tend to last longer on the range with less breakdown or loss.
When cattle last longer they can produce longer, leading to less turn over and the ability to maintain a stable herd. Also when it comes to the carcass on a hanging beef, if you have a large framed beef hanging there will be more loss due to the bones being larger thus weighing more of the hanging weight would be lost in the bones. Medium framed cattle produce a higher meat return rate due to better bone to meat ratio.
